About

Hello, you are at ones and zeros, a Tumblelog by Shona Ghosh.

Lovingly ripping off the excellent @brainpicker, this is a digital repository of shiny things involving balloons, silent discos and/or Paul Simon where possible.

I dump a lot of this stuff on my Twitter feed.

I have a more seriousish website here.

There is an RSS feed right at the bottom of this blog, if you're interested.

(I really like Paul Simon)

Looking for something specific?

Fancy it?

The National, Afraid of Everyone.

This is so good, I can’t not put it here. And it has Sufjan Stevens.

A short review of Animal Collective’s ODDSAC.
Odd.
Sac-like objects do make an appearance.
But the film is so-named because they…like gummy candy.
(And because, like, wouldn’t it be funny if you had an odd sack of gummy candy)
And really, they just like the way ODDSAC looks written down.
Alright, fuck it, we just couldn’t think of a decent name, ok?
Black paint can be made to look surprisingly unpleasant.
As can mouths, teeth and blond hair.
Oh, the music. Second half was better, more melodic and comprehensible.
Danny Perez - massive stoner.

So the oddballs over at A Sound Awareness have teamed up with Toys and Techniques and Unmann-Wittering to celebrate the long-dead BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
If you don’t know what that is, don’t worry. It means you’re probably not
a) Old
b) Obsessed with the history of British radio
First up is a re-release of David Cain’s equally oddball Seasons, released by the BBC as a kind of musical accompaniment to drama workshops. Unmann-Wittering have some great reflections on what working to this might actually have been like…
